The 4th of July is the day of star-spangled celebrations. People from across the U.S., come together to view the spectacular fireworks that spread out the true colors of Independence Day, all over the sky. The same enthusiasm of the 4th of July is going to be witnessed this year too at Lake Murray, South Carolina.

Lake Murray invites the residents of Columbia, SC and the people of other states to enjoy the splendid fireworks event on July 4th, 2017.

Event Details

The 4th of July celebrations at Lake Murray are scheduled to commence on Saturday, July 1st, 2017 and will start with the annual boat parade in the afternoon. This celebration will end with an impressive fireworks show at night. Fireworks will be launched from two different lake locations, Spence Island & Dreher Island.

The participants of Boat Parade are required to register the boat to become part of the boat parade. Moreover, they are encouraged to decorate their boats by following this year’s event theme – A star-spangled celebration.

The Timings of Firework Launching

The fireworks show is scheduled to begin at dusk, around 9:15 PM. You may also tune into broadcasting stations Cumulus, WOMG/Classic Hits 98.5 or WTCB B106.7 FM to listen to the patriotic music show. They will also make an announcement of the beginning of the firework show.

Where to Get the Best View of Fireworks Show?

You may see the spectacular view by boat near Dreher or Spence Islands. Both of the parks at the Lake Murray Dam are best locations for viewing the fireworks show. However, they will be offered limited parking and will be served on first come basis.

Boat Parade and Deadline to Register

The deadline for the registration of the event is Friday, June 30th at around 3:00 PM. There is no cost to participate in the boat parade as it’s free. The parade route will start at the Bomb Island (parade assembly) and continue to the Lake Murray Dam. The boat parade will start between 12 pm – 12:30 pm

Registered boats are required to stay behind the lead boat, Fantasy Island. Once the boats pass Lexington Park, they will pass the Irmo Park Site. Then the boats will move ahead of Lead Boat, Fantasy Island for photos and judging.

Where Can I Get the Best View of the Boat Parade?

The best view to enjoy the boat parade is right from the park sites located at the Dam. However, the normal park fees will be applicable – $2 motorcycles and $3 car/truck.

The Announcement of Boat Parade Winners

The winners of boat parade will be announced through the updates on the event’s official website by Monday, July 3rd, 2017. You may also check the results on their official Facebook page. Moreover, all the winners will be notified by mail as well provided with the event photos.
