A town in the Lexington and Richland counties of South Carolina, Irmo is home to nearly 11 thousand people. It comes as a surprise to many that one of the most affordable towns in the country, according to Money magazine, neighbors the crowded city of Columbia, SC. Doing justice to that title, there are plenty of things which you can do while getting great value for your money, when you are in the area.

Visit Free Parks

Irmo Town Park and Irmo Community Park are two of the most popular parks in the town and often voted as the best places to visit. Often described as exceedingly beautiful and extremely safe, these parks are a great place to spend time, especially with your children, and engage in healthy recreational activities free of cost.

The parks are also favorite picnic spots among the people of Irmo, complete with picnic tables and proper seating available if you want to relax and have some fun. The timings for both parks are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Rent a Bike at Saluda Shoals

The Saluda Shoals Park gets its name from the Saluda River near which it is located. For just $5 per rental, you can rent a bike of your choice along with all the necessary equipment. Even though the timings for Saluda Shoals Park are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. during the winter and 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. during summer days, park rules state that all rented bicycles must be returned by 5 p.m.

The park covers a vast area with long walking trails as well. The park has great value for your money with the $5 tickets at the entrance. Priced at $10, tubing is another option at Saluda Shoals but is limited to the season and river conditions.

Have some fun at Indoor Sports Facilities

Plex HiWire Family Fun & Sports Center is an ideal place for days when the weather just isn’t right for any outdoor activities. One of the most enjoyable experiences you can have is jumping in a room full of trampolines! Tickets range between $8 to $20 per hour depending on the time and day of the week, and your choice of activity, since skating is also a favorite.

Anchor Lanes is another indoor facility in Irmo, SC. Primarily catering to lovers of bowling, you can get great value for your money for as low as $12 per person. There are also plenty of tournaments held regularly.

Experience the City Center

People often love to see the contrast in city centers between a metropolis and a small town. Although the City Center in Irmo may not excite you as much as that of Columbia, SC, it is still one of the most popular places whenever one visits Irmo.
